This iridescent blue taffeta dress will make any little girl happy this holiday season. The hand sewn gutterman pearls were added because I have always wanted to replicate a dress made for a friend years ago. Her prom dress was sewn by her mom who was a seamstress from Thailand.. on her gown were hand sewn teardrop pearls all on the bodice, it was lovely. I have remembered that dress for years and I hope some sweet girl will have this heirloom dress for years to come also. Find this in my Etsy shop!

This sweet little dress is made of pin tucked silk shantung fabric. The sash is made from the same fabric as the bridesmaid dresses and covered in tulle fabric. Fabric flowers all around the belt make it even sweeter. This is for an October wedding on the beach in Florida. What could be more beautiful than that?

This new little design is so simple and basic, but worn in so many different ways, depending on where your are in life. Nursing? Cover your belly with the wide waistband, no need for crazy expensive and confusing “nursing” tops that almost advertise you are a nursing mom, just wear any shirt and lift it without exposing your midriff. Are you pregnant? Great, wear this skirt under the belly for a great and comfortable supportive skirt. Need a maternity top though? Okay, pull it up! The extra stretchy waistband makes a perfect tube top for your sensitive breasts during pregnancy and the billowy skirt covers your expanding waistline. How about just a mom, not pregnant at all? I wear these skirts all the time. At the beach last summer my teenage daughter and I were lounging in the sand when she realized she was supposed to be at an afternoon concert. She had nothing to wear and had only five minutes to get there…. out came the Mamacita skirt and she pulled it on as a mini dress and off she went. Gotta love it! Oh, and when you travel.. throw this in your bag, it won’t wrinkle at all. Made from an incredible blend of lycra and poly it washes and wears but never wears out.

Spring sewing, and the prom.

So I have a week to sew a prom dress. I just got the silk twill fabric and it’s absolutely divine. Over sized chrysanthemums in orange on an ivory background. The “customer”, my daughter, would like a strapless bodice with a bubble skirt. Pretty straight up and I have done that before for her, so Yawn.. but the fabric will do the talking and the dress design can take a chill pill. Should be fun. I will add pictures if I can as I go.

I am so excited to finally have these available. My wool covers for cloth diapers “niche” was too limited. Now I can co ordinate sets with diapers, wool and shirts and dresses as well. The design will be front snapping with a tri-fold soaker. Nine layers of absorbent material is wonderful and not too heavy. They are quick to dry too, which is wonderful for the power bill!
